Hand-stamped in rich brown tones on natural fiber, it features an intricate geometric border of repeating triangles and zigzags framing a charming central design of stylized flowers and fruit on branches. Tapa cloth is created through a labor-intensive traditional process of beating the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree into thin sheets and decorating it with natural dyes and stencils. This piece shows excellent craftsmanship and the signature crinkled, organic texture that makes tapa so desirable.
