This studio craft piece features a naturalistic arrangement of cattails rising from a solid wood base, combining turned hardwood elements with slender dowel stems and curved, steam-bent or laminated wood accents to evoke the movement of marsh grasses.
The cattail tops are formed from turned wood cylinders in contrasting tones, while the leaves are shaped from thin, bent wood strips, creating flowing, organic lines. The stems are set into individually drilled sockets within a solid, freeform base that highlights natural grain variation and character markings. The base retains its original maker's label on the underside.
