Set against a neutral cream backing within a gilded ornamental frame, the skirt panel is crafted from a refined celadon-green silk damask. The central "horse-face" panel—the flat, unpleated section—features elaborate forbidden stitch (seed stitch) and satin stitch embroidery depicting a large, multi-petaled peony and a soaring phoenix, symbols of wealth and high social status.

The garment is structured with characteristic vertical black silk ribbon inserts that define the crisp pleating, which is further accented by delicate floral sprigs and butterflies scattered across the fabric.
