The convex, dome-top profile not only hints at its premium status in its day (designed to be stacked last aboard ship), but also adds sculptural presence in a modern interior.

This trunk is unusually well-preserved, with original patinated leather side handles and robust cast iron hardware. The body showcases an attractive pressed tin (or zinc) grid pattern, a sought-after detail found in trunks from the 1880s to 1910s, often referred to as “embossed metal” or “diamond tin.” The wood has a rich golden tone and retains evidence of hand-planed construction on the interior, where the grain and original saw marks remain visible.
