Offered is a ceramic teapot and lid in the iconic Desert Rose pattern from Franciscan Earthenware. Franciscan Pottery dates back to 1934 in Los Angeles, California when Gladding, McBean & Co. started making ceramic tableware and tiles. Originally known for their bright casual earthenware, Franciscan quickly expanded their production to include fine china collections.
Measures 10" long spout to handle, 6" diameter, 6.5" tall with lid
Franciscan was originally sold under the name Franciscan Pottery and used bright colors in the design and production of earthenware pieces in the style of the American Southwest. The name Franciscan is an allusion to Franciscan monks and reflected the simple, informal style of Mexican folk pottery. The Desert Rose pattern from Franciscan earthenware is one of their all time most popular patterns. They are a soft pink and vibrant jungle green on a cream base and a sage colored scalloped edge. Please note that there are color variations due to the hand painted nature of the plates and different countries of production.
