Originally a large-scale hand-carved find from the Mexican Modernist tradition (c. 1970s), this piece has been reimagined through a deliberate artistic intervention by Splendidus.
​This "Red guardian" figure is defined by its massive, orb-like form—a symbol of protection and rest. Splendidus has deepened the wood's character, achieving a rich, scorched-russet patina that glows against the solid bronze elements. The intervention features hand-wrought bronze detailing: a wide ornamental collar, a heavy sculptural base that follows the line of the tail, and piercing bronze-inlay eyes that give the cat a soulful, timeless presence.
