A close inspection reveals, that the oldest elements are: the head, legs from the knees down, and the right hand (one finger missing). The body is slightly later, and perhaps also original. The thighs (the wood has the faintest patina) and the left hand (carved and painted rather clumsily) were added most recently. However, over the centuries, the puppet has been well cared for to ensure its continued use, and in the 20th century, damaged parts were replaced, testifying to its uniqueness and exceptional character.
