An 18th-century anatomical plate depicting the human skeleton in anterior (fig. 1) and posterior (fig. 2) views. The figures are carefully labeled to identify major skeletal structures, including the skull, ribcage, spine, pelvis, and limbs. Drawn by jacques de sève and engraved in fine, precise line, this plate exemplifies the clarity and refinement characteristic of buffon’s histoire naturelle.
