It opens at the front with two drawers in the frieze, each adorned with a delicately chased, gilt-bronze leaf motif and fitted with a functional lock and key. The lower rail, carved and undulating, gracefully initiates the curved line of the legs, whose slight camber lends the whole a lively and refined appearance. The top is covered in black leather, framed by a gilt vignette and accompanied by a blind-tooled vignette, offering a noble contrast with the wood's color. The molded edge, crafted in an inverted quarter-round, completes this charming piece, a testament to an 18th century where the finesse of proportions and the softness of forms combined to create pieces that were both functional and exquisitely poetic.
