The work, missing a portion on the right, depicts the Madonna enthroned with the Child Jesus on her lap, who holds the sacred scriptures in one hand and points the way with the other. An archangel appears in the upper left corner. The Romanian iconographic school has more popular connotations than the Byzantine or Greek Orthodox, particularly in the less severe and more human, less detached faces and in the more earthly color choices. The icon has several missing colors and small damage to the panel. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
