Here is a fantastic vintage expanding dining table by Watertown Slide, likely made in the mid-20th century, circa 1940s–1950s. This piece showcases a highly versatile design that easily transitions from a compact console or drop-leaf table into a fully extended dining table.
The table features a rich, warm mahogany finish with beautifully tapered and fluted legs, giving it a classic yet refined presence. The standout feature is the patented Watertown Slide mechanism, allowing the table to expand smoothly to accommodate multiple configurations—from narrow console depth to a generous dining size up to 78 inches long!
I love pieces like this because they solve real-life space needs without sacrificing style. It works just as well in a smaller home or apartment as it does in a larger dining space where flexibility is key. The main photo shows you the max length with 3 leaves, the next has the leaves dropped on the sides, then in the 3rd the leaves are removed but sides are up and finally you can see the table with no leaves and sides dropped down. The table can be used with one, two, or all three leaves depending on your needs.
A timeless and practical piece that blends traditional craftsmanship with smart design.

The slide mechanism operates smoothly and the table opens and closes with ease. There is light surface wear consistent with age, including minor scuffs, scratches and finish wear to the top and edges. Presents very well overall. less
