Evans developed a … Read more Large abstract form raku fired ceramic vase on lucite base by renowned master ceramicist Tony Evans (1942-2009). Evans developed a very distinctive style after studying ancient pottery and firing techniques in Japan which is reflected in his works. There is a unique juxtaposition of texture and reflectiveness within this piece. Evans created original raku art pottery with wonderful textures, glazes, and colors from his studio in Northern California beginning in the 1970s. Practicing this ancient technique, he would fire his pieces in a 2,000 degree oven, remove and inspect the molten glaze, and then plunge the piece into a paper lined trash can, thus creating the broken eggshell of multi-hued luster.
