This set of wooden panels is notable for its delicate polychromy in pastel tones. Each piece features a central scene with wading birds (cranes) in a lake setting, framed by an architectural cartouche in the Rococo or Louis XVI style.
The perimeter ornamentation includes scrolls, plant motifs, and rocaille details in terracotta and soft blue tones, simulating the depth of classical moldings. The aged finish and natural patina suggest that these panels were originally part of the permanent decoration of a stately salon (boiserie), having been rescued and adapted as independent works of art.
