A striking signed and numbered lithograph by Robert Griffing, one of America's most respected painters of 18th-century Eastern Woodland Indian subjects. "Brothers of the Forest" (1991) captures three Seneca warriors in elaborate war paint and period-accurate regalia — trade silver gorgets, shell earrings, and flintlock muskets — standing in a dense forest setting. It is one of Griffing's most iconic and sought-after compositions.
This is number 537 from a limited edition of 950 signed and numbered prints, with an additional 95 artist proofs. Published by Paramount Press in Panama, New York. Hand-signed by the artist in pencil. Accompanied by the original Certificate of Authenticity, also signed by Griffing.
Presented in its original walnut-toned wood frame with an engraved title plate reading "Brothers of the Forest." The frame shows honest wear — minor corner separation at the lower joints and a small nick on the bottom rail — but remains solid and display-ready. An easy candidate for reframing if desired.
Griffing's originals command five figures at major Western art auctions. His limited edition prints have a devoted collector base, particularly among enthusiasts of French & Indian War history and Eastern Woodland Indian culture.
