This pair of monumental cassolettes from the nineteenth century is an exceptional example of french decorative arts from the napoleon iii period. These impressive incense burners are crafted from "sea green" (vert de mer) marble, known for its deep tones and sophisticated veining, and are adorned with elaborate gilded bronze mounts. The finely chased bronze detailing enhances the architectural silhouette of each piece, creating a stunning contrast between the dark stone and the brilliant gilded surfaces.
