One of the most popular and elegant models produced by Goldscheider Manufaktur Vienna: Depiction of the dancer Niddy Impekoven (1904-2002) performing her dance ‘The Captured Bird’ in the early twenties of the 20th century: Dancer balancing on tiptoes with arms raised forwards and backwards, taking a step to the right, wearing a short, translucent turquoise dance dress with light blue batwing sleeves reminiscent of insect wings, and a turquoise blue close-fitting headdress covering almost all of her hair. On a black, gently graduated oval base, artist's signature 'Lorenzl' on the top of the base behind the figure next to the vase placed to the side of the figure and serving as a support. Designed by Josef LORENZL (1892 - 1950), was an Austrian sculptor and ceramic modeler. His bronze statuettes often show graceful dancers with long legs and closed eyes. Lorenzl designed numerous ceramics for Friedrich Goldscheider and Keramos and was one of the most popular artists of Art Deco. Model 5230 was created in 1922. Made circa 1925 Dimensions: Height: 48,0 cm / 18.89 in Width: 42,0 cm / 16.53 in Depth: 19,0 cm / 7.48 in Marks: Model number 5230 / 130 / 10 Goldscheider Wien (Vienna) manufactory stamp Painter's and former's signs existing signature 'Lorenzl' on the top of the base behind the figure next to the vase This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
