An impressive modernist style cat sculpture, created by the renown award-winning Czech industrial designer Janoslav Jezek (1923-2002).
This is an early edition piece from the 'Brussels-Series' manufactured around 1960 in the former Czechoslovakia by Royal Dux Bohemia.
In 1957 Janoslav Jezek was invited to create designs for the Expo 58 in Brussels. His porcelain set 'Elka' was exhibited there, and was awarded the Expo Grand Prix for Ceramics. Jezek also designed the porcelain set 'Asmanit' for the Brussels' Expo restaurant.
The designer was one of the leading exponents for the 'Brussels Style' during 1960s. This piece has an attribution mark,
