Architectural patchwork chrome etagere in the style of paul Evan’s for Directional Furniture, circa 1970s.
Came with signed credenza and console that were sold separately. Haven’t found signature. Feel free to ask any questions
This sculptural shelving unit exemplifies Evans’ iconic patchwork metal technique, composed of individually applied polished chrome panels that create a richly textured reflective surface. The geometric architectural frame surrounds floating smoked glass shelves, giving the piece a striking visual lightness despite its substantial structure.
Paul Evans was a leading figure of the American studio furniture movement, and his work for Directional helped define the bold sculptural aesthetic of 1970s modernism.
This etagere comes from the same suite as a signed Paul Evans console and credenza, further supporting the attribution.
The mirrored patchwork chrome captures light beautifully from every angle, making this piece equally suitable as a display shelf, sculptural bookcase, or statement room divider.
A rare and highly collectible example of Evans’ work that blends functional storage with iconic studio craft design.
