A rare and highly sculptural Mexican Modernist cocktail pitcher set designed by Ana Nuñez Brilanti and produced by Victoria of Taxco, Mexico, circa 1950s. This exceptional three-piece bar set exemplifies the expressive craftsmanship and cultural symbolism that made Taxco silverwork and mixed-metal design internationally celebrated in the mid-20th century.
The set includes a tall cylindrical hand-hammered copper cocktail pitcher, a silver-plated stirring spoon, and a matching copper and silver shot glass, all executed in a refined modernist style with traditional Mexican iconography.
The pitcher is decorated with finely engraved and silver-overlaid imagery depicting a stylized Aztec warrior raising a spear, confronting a crouching jaguar motif along the lower register. The dramatic composition reflects themes of pre-Columbian mythology and Mexican cultural heritage, rendered with elegant linear engraving against a warm patinated copper surface.
The accompanying shot glass features repoussé silver appliqué scenes inspired by Mexican bullfighting tradition, depicting a matador on one side and a bull pierced by arrows on the reverse, framed by geometric decorative bands.
Completing the set is a long silver-plated cocktail stirrer with a hand-wrought looped handle and elongated spoon bowl, designed to complement the height and proportions of the pitcher while reinforcing the set’s artisanal character.
Both the pitcher and shot glass retain the “Victoria Mexico Taxco” hallmark, with the shot glass additionally stamped model number 267, confirming its origin within the renowned Taxco workshop known for producing some of the finest mixed-metal decorative arts of the period.
With its striking scale, narrative imagery, and sophisticated modernist form, this rare bar set is an outstanding example of mid-century Mexican design and would make a dramatic addition to designer bar interiors, curated cocktail settings, or collections of Taxco silver and Mexican modernist decorative arts.
