A rare tabletop mirror by Barovier & Toso, Murano, produced in the 1940s. The frame is formed from thick, hand-blown Murano glass, worked in the torchon technique — clear glass pulled into soft ridges and twisted in a continuous spiral. This type of sculptural glasswork was a key element of the original Hollywood Regency aesthetic, prized for its interplay of glamour, craftsmanship, and light. The mirror form itself is gently contoured — somewhere between a shield and a wave — framed in brass with a ribbed brass collar at the base that subtly punctuates the composition. At 48 cm high and 40 cm wide, with a depth of 6 cm, it’s notably generous for a table mirror — more object than accessory - a wonderful tabletop or vanity mirror. The reverse is finished in satinwood with brass hardware and a folding strut- the strut hinges signed Barovier & Toso – Murano. Offered in very good condition. The glass is undamaged; the brass shows a natural, even patina consistent with age. This piece has an attribution mark,
