Stool designed by Jan de Jong for Nursing Home De Weerde, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 1966. This stool is a fine example of one of the most iconic furniture models within the Bossche School movement. Crafted in cedar wood with the original green varnish still intact, the piece has a rich, deep surface that reveals its age and authenticity. The reddish glow of the cedar wood is still visible through the green semitransparent varnish. The rhythmically placed iron nails emphasize the clarity of the construction and give the stool a structural honesty that reflects the architectural principles behind its design. Its compact proportions and solid geometry create a quiet presence that works both as a functional seat and as a sculptural element within a space. As seen in the combination image, this piece is part of a unique set consisting of three sizes of the same iconic model, all originating from the same nursing home. Finding such a complete group is rare, as these stools were typically produced for specific projects and seldom survived together as a set. Although this listing concerns the stool alone, the larger set highlights the remarkable proportional system of the Bossche School, based on the plastic number. Each size relates harmoniously to the others, reinforcing the disciplined design language characteristic of the movement.
