Magnificent pair of Antique German Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Stoneware Steins, mold/form number #168. These imposing 16-inch tall steins feature intricate high-relief Gothic architectural elements and detailed medieval scenes of knights, maidens, and historical figures in a continuous spiral design.
They are tall, lidded, and in the desirable tower form, marked with the classic Mettlach Abbey stamp. Each stein has contrasting light and dark brown/blue backgrounds. CONDITION: One stein has a significant chip on the lower base band (see photos for detail). These are rare, large collectible pieces, perfect for a bar or display. Sold as a pair.
