An exquisite pair of Alexandre soup plates is offered from the renowned Parisian ceramics house, Astier de Villatte. Entirely handmade in a historic Bastille workshop, these pieces are crafted from signature black terracotta clay and finished with a milky-white glaze that allows the dark clay to subtly peek through the edges.
The defining feature of this set is the delicately stamped mascaron (decorative face) on each rim, cast from an antique vase. Because each piece is handmade by master artisans, no two are exactly alike, offering a one-of-a-kind soulful character to your collection.
These pieces are contemporary artisanal ceramics designed with a 19th-century soul. Astier de Villatte has been producing these handmade treasures in their Paris workshop since 1996, using traditional techniques that make every piece feel like a discovered antique."

Please note that Astier de Villatte ceramics are celebrated for their "perfectly imperfect" aesthetic. As each piece is handmade from black terracotta and dipped in a signature milky glaze, you will notice the following authentic characteristics: * Glaze Variations: Slight "pitting," tiny bubbles, or pinholes in the glaze are natural results of the artisan firing process. * Please note the center shows faint, spider-like cutlery markings (grey metal transfer) from light use. * Terra Cotta "Peeking": It is intentional for the dark clay to subtly show through the white glaze, especially along the rim and the raised details of the mascaron. * Artisan Marks: Each piece features the hand-stamped Astier de Villatte monogram and the unique initials of the individual craftsman on the underside. less
