The Carstens company branch in Gräfenroda, Thuringia was acquired in 1918 by Christian and Ernst Carstens who already founded their ceramics empire in 1892.

After 1945 and the division of Germany, the company was newly founded as Carstens Tönnieshof in West-Germany.
The factory in Gräfenroda, now in the GDR, was nationalized and became a so-called VEB, a state-owned enterprise.

So this set of Art Deco Vases was manufactured by the original Carstens company, before it was split.

These fine sculptural ceramic vases are glazed in hues of coral-orange and white, featuring artistic graphic decors.
