The top of the headboard has a carved crest that is placed between the two arches and two solid wood finials that can be removed. The flame mahogany on both the headboard and the footboard is absolutely exquisite! As a vintage piece of furniture, there are a few condition issues that I need to point out. The top of the footboard is quite wide and has some scratches on it (refer to picture 11). There are a few nicks in the mahogany veneer at the base of the footboard (refer to picture 12). There is a brass plaque at the base of the headboard with Nine Elms and Drexel Heritage on it (refer to picture 17). This bed does not come with any wooden slats to support a mattress. A set of eight bolts to assemble the bed will be included. This bed is extremely heavy, especially the headboard!

I photographed this bed outside on a sunny March afternoon, producing a warm, rich glow to the flame mahogany veneer. It will invariably look different when viewed in an interior setting under artificial light. Please take this into consideration when matching colors.
