A vintage 1970s hand-knotted wool rug featuring a striking geometric medallion design inspired by early 20th-century Art Deco carpets. The field centers on a radiating starburst medallion surrounded by crisp angular motifs and a balanced border, giving the piece a strong architectural presence that works beautifully in both modern and traditional interiors.
The palette is particularly versatile, composed of soft ivory, taupe, charcoal, and warm brown tones. These neutrals make the rug easy to integrate with a wide range of furnishings—from mid-century and contemporary rooms to classic European-influenced interiors.
The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a cotton foundation and woven using asymmetrical Persian knots. Knot density is approximately 90–100 knots per square inch, indicating solid workshop craftsmanship. The drawing is precise and symmetrical, typical of Pakistani Tabriz-style workshop rugs produced for the export market in the late 20th century.
Its proportions are especially useful for apartments, foyers and living room layouts. The size works well beneath a coffee table with a sofa arrangement, or as a grounding element in a sitting room or study or large entryway.
