This is an excellent example of the intense craftsmanship of the era. Every element speaks to the luxury craftsmanship Italy was exporting to a very discerning international market in the late 1950s and early 1960s.This particular table was purchased in New York City in 1961 — brought over from Rome at a time when such pieces were acquired by those who knew exactly what they were looking for.

The heavy marble round top fits free from its fitted wooden platform, which rests atop an ornate cast pedestal base. The base is finished in a warm gold tone with scrolled floral carvings.

The carved chariot carving on marble table is an excellent example of fine Italian craftsmanship of the time. The Marble top is very heavy.

Purchased 1961 in NYC, originally from Rome. It has been exceptionally well cared for. Condition is like-new for its age, with only the lightest signs of a long and careful life. There is one small chip to the marble edge, recently sustained, visible in the photographs. It does not affect the presence of the piece.
