These are a pair of cast bronze bookends made in the 1920s. These charming little book ends depict the Flying Cloud. Add a touch of nautical flare and American history to your bookcases. These were made by the Connor Foundry Company. The foundary was based from Grand Rapids, Michigan. It existed from 1911 until its closing in 1969.
Launched in 1851, the Flying Cloud was a famous American clipper ship designed by Donald McKay that set sailing records, including a 135-year record of 89 days and 8 hours from New York to San Francisco in 1854. Navigated by Eleanor Creesy and captained by Josiah Creesy, it was vital during the Gold Rush, famously navigating around Cape Horn.
