This exquisite vase from the 1960s is a rare collector's item due to its intricate decoration and brilliant glaze.

Subject and Style: The vase features the classic jar shape with a flared neck. The surface is entirely covered with the prestigious Renaissance "Grotesque" decoration: a triumph of scrolls, plant elements, and magnificent mythological birds (dragons or griffins) with elaborate plumage. At the center, a striking medallion encloses the silhouette of a proud, legendary creature, black on an antique rose background. The color palette is the noble Deruta tradition: yellow ochre, cobalt blue, copper green, and orange.

Material and Finish: Crafted from fine turned and glazed majolica, masterfully hand-painted in every detail. The finish is glossy and vitrified. Under the base, left in natural terracotta at the edge, are the workshop's catalog numbers, "131 - 14," hand-written, a distinctive sign of artisanal production.
