The young violinist stands tuning his … Read more A finely modelled Royal Worcester bone china figure of “The Young Mozart”, model 1487. The young violinist stands tuning his instrument on a gilt circular base, accompanied by a stool and books. Academic modelling and carefully observed detail define the composition. Finished in softly matt enamels with restrained gilding to the base. Factory marks and impressed model number present.

The model relates to the larger 1890 sculptural version created to commemorate the centenary of Mozart’s death. This reduced cabinet-size edition was produced in limited quantities and remains scarce. Associated with Sir Thomas Brock, later one of Britain’s most important sculptors.
