The mirror centers on a circular plate framed by an elegant surround decorated with hand-painted floral garlands on an ebonized ground, bordered by finely molded gilt bands. Flanking the frame are two sculptural giltwood putti in high relief, animated in expressive poses that appear to support the frame in classic Rococo fashion.
Below each putto extends a small integral candle arm, designed to hold slender candles so that their light would reflect in the mirror — a feature commonly found on Rococo mirrors intended for candlelit interiors.
The mirror is crowned by an elaborate ribbon and cartouche crest, deeply carved with flowing Rococo scrollwork and accented by the contrast between gilded ornament and dark ebonized surfaces. The lower portion continues the decorative composition with carved ribbon motifs and gilt accents that balance the overall design.
