From Finnish glass and ceramic designer Kaj Franck, the gem-like 'Kastanja' (Chestnut) bowl is a simple and refined example of the mid-century Scandinavian aesthetic. The small white glass bowl cased in clear glass shows glass-making skill and a purity of form that makes this what I consider more an art object than an itty-bitty piece of serveware. (Although you could serve a berry or two or maybe four or five peanuts, if you wished. ) It was designed by Franck and produced in the 1960s by Nuutajarvi Notsjo.
The bowl is approximately 1.2" H x 2.5" at its widest point. It is signed on the base. Shows light signs of age and use.
