Fantastic vintage Kwakiutl totem pole, carved by Nancy Dawson (b1954) and her son Anthany Dawson (1969-1999), while working with John Livingston at The Arts of the Raven Gallery (1969-1989) in Victoria. Info provided by the artist herself. The pole is dated 1986.
This totem is finely carved and really showcases the expertise and vision of a master carver using indigenous iconography of an eagle and a bear holding a salmon.
Measures 17"x 17"x 78". Minor handling/storage wear that includes a few dings. Retains all original paint, no obvious cosmetic damage/flaws, losses or repairs. Carve signed "Dawson" to the back of the base, titled and dated in pencil.
