A fine example of early 20th-century british ceramics, this large ironstone jug was produced by the renowned staffordshire pottery sampson hancock & sons. It features the elegant "kent" pattern, a classic floral motif executed in a deep teal-blue transferware. The piece is distinguished by its lobed body, scalloped rim, and a sophisticated scrolled handle characteristic of the edwardian era.
the base bears the clear underglaze "magnet" trade mark (a castle gate) along with the initials "s.h. & s. England," securely dating this piece to the period between 1900 and 1912.
