George iii oak lowboy, a classic type of 18th-century english furniture originally designed as a dressing table but commonly used today as a side or hall table. It features a rectangular top with a moulded edge, often overhanging a configuration of three drawers: one shallow central drawer flanked by two deeper ones.
the table stands on four quare-sectioned legs a distinctive, decoratively shaped apron, or frieze sits below the drawers, often forming a kneehole for use as a desk. The drawers are fitted with brass swan-neck handles or drop handles on decorative backplates. Crafted from solid oak, these pieces are prized for their rich, aged patina and warm color developed over centuries. Authentic georgian examples show signs of handcraftsmanship, such as hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer linings and slight irregularities in the carving.
