brand g.m.a. Manifattura ceramica giuseppe mazzotti (now manifattura giuseppe mazzotti 1903) is a historic artisanal ceramics workshop in albisola marina (savona, liguria). Founded in 1903 by giuseppe mazzotti, known as bausin, in the village of pozzo garitta, it began by producing traditional tableware and everyday objects, becoming part of albisola’s centuries-old tradition. In the 1920s and 1930s, with his children torido, tullio (tullio d’albisola), and vittoria, the company became associated with futurism, collaborating with artists such as marinetti, prampolini, fillia, and diulgheroff to create avant-garde ceramics featuring dynamic forms and abstract decorations. Upon the founder’s death (1944), his children took over; in 1959, they split: torido retained the name giuseppe mazzotti and launched a new, more artisanal and traditional line (under the g.m.a. Brand in the 1960s–80s), while tullio and vittoria continued to focus on art and avant-garde designs. From 1988–89, following torido’s death, the business passed to his son giuseppe bepi mazzotti, and then in 2005 to his grandson tullio, who continues the high-quality artisanal production (majolica, design, one-of-a-kind pieces). In 2023, the company celebrated 120 years of uninterrupted activity, a symbol of italian artistic ceramics bridging tradition and innovation.
