A refined and iconic steel and bronze clad writing table, library table, desk, or console made in the manner and style of John Vesey (United States, 1924-1992). The desk is constructed with brass, steel, wood, and leather in the French Neoclassical Louis XVI style. The top features a black leather inset writing surface framed by a Greek-key gilt border surrounded by a silver-toned metal field. The shallow frieze incorporates two wide drawers with elegant brass pulls. The apron and side are embellished with a decorative brass frame molding and reeded corner panels. Slender tapered legs with a linear brass trim end in small brass sabot feet. Finished on all sides, the piece works as a desk, console, or writing table. The desk has a clearance of 24" from the floor to the apron for ample leg room. The steel and bronze have a desirable lightly aged patina on the finish. The desk is hand crafted with a dramatic profile and opulent materials.
