The curved frame, crafted from perforated sheet metal, has a painted ivory finish and brass trim. The shield-shaped mirror is suspended from the frame, fastened by brass hardware with subtle foliate detailing. When lit, the intricate trellis pattern softly diffuses light, casting a warm, ambient glow.

Mathieu Matégot, a Hungarian-French designer and architect, gained acclaim for his groundbreaking work in furniture and lighting design. Best known for his use of materials like metal and rattan, Matégot's innovative approach reached new heights through his collaboration with Artimeta, a Dutch manufacturer, in the 1950s.

Here, he introduced his pioneering technique, Rigitulle, which transformed perforated metal sheets into fluid, fabric-like forms. This process enabled him to craft light, functional, and highly sculptural pieces, where his signature perforated patterns brought a delicate play of transparency and shadow.

Condition: Great vintage condition, with a patina to the brass accents. The metal frame shows surface marks, wear, and paint loss, consistent with age and use. This mirror has been professionally rewired by our team of restorationists. Hardware present on the backside for hanging. See less
