This exquisite original 1924 hand-colored pochoir, titled "Chut!.. Il Dort" (Hush!.. He is Sleeping), is a masterful collaboration between two icons of the Art Deco era: illustrator Georges Lepape and couturière Jeanne Lanvin. It was published as Plate 53 in Issue No. 6 of the legendary Gazette du Bon Ton, the most influential and luxurious fashion journal of the early 20th century.
The scene captures an intimate moment, depicting a mother in an elegant Lanvin "robe d'intérieur" (at-home gown) leaning over a wicker bassinet. Lepape, a member of the elite "Knights of the Bracelet" illustrators, was renowned for his fluid lines and narrative style. This piece was created using the labor-intensive pochoir process, where vibrant gouache was meticulously applied by hand through individual stencils, a technique synonymous with the high-art standards of La Gazette.
Presented in a professional custom double black and silver 11" x 14" mat, which elegantly frames the composition and highlights the cool, metallic Deco aesthetic.
