The piece is executed in sterling silver in the shape of a sombrero with a floral design around the rim and a raised lariat or rope design around the center. The peak is decorated with a stylized Mexican eagle and etched Mexico. The dish was designed by Frederick Davis while in partnership with Frank Sanborn and was sold through the Sanborns Department Store in Mexico City. It measures approximately 4.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall and weighs 56.5 grams. It is marked Sanborns Mexico Sterling with an owl hallmark on the underside of the brim. The dish is in excellent conditon with no pitting, dents or other damage. See less
