The Collection
This curated trio of mid-century Chinese cloisonné dishes represents the "Revival Period" of the renowned Beijing Enamel Factory. Each piece is a masterclass in the ancient falang technique, featuring hand-pinched brass wires (cloisons) filled with vibrant glass-paste enamels and fired in traditional kilns.
The Set Includes:
Blue & White Peony: A sophisticated nod to Ming-style porcelain, symbolizing prosperity.
Plum Blossom on Navy: A striking winter motif representing perseverance.
Polychrome Botanical: A multi-colored floral study on a classic "cloud diaper" background.
Authentication & Dating
All three pieces retain their original Jingfa (京珐) paper labels on the underside. These labels show an authentic, slight yellowing consistent with 60+ years of age. Unlike modern mass-produced versions, the wirework here is hand-applied; you can observe the charming, organic irregularities in the background scrolls and the slightly heavier gauge of the brass wires—hallmarks of 1960s craftsmanship before the process was further industrialized in the 1980s.
Condition
In remarkable, very good condition. The enamel surfaces are glossy, the brass rims show a light, honest patina that adds to their mid-century character. The plum blossom piece does have a small flake missing on the side (see photo), and has an inside bruise with loss (see photo, reflected in price).
