A striking Mid-Century sculptural "duck beak" art glass vase produced by Huta Szkła Artystycznego "Barbara" in Polanica-Zdrój, Poland, during the 1970s.
Crafted from mouth-blown soda glass in the iconic Polish "Antico" technique, featuring densely controlled air bubbles intentionally suspended throughout the vibrant ruby-red body. The elongated asymmetric silhouette culminates in a dynamic slanted lip, balanced by an organic pierced circular aperture at the base. Excellent condition. No chips, cracks or bruises; the drawn lip is complete and smooth along its full edge. The bubbles in the mass are a characteristic of antico glass, not a flaw. Light base wear consistent with age and display use. Unsigned.
Under the artistic direction of Zbigniew Horbowy (1975–1989), HSA Barbara became a center for experimental European studio glass. This piece functions both as functional art and a bold architectural focal point for modern interiors.
