Ruby red is gathered at the foot and carried upward inside a clear casing, thinning as it climbs until the glass runs colourless at the top. Vertical ribs rise the full height of the body, and the red follows them, so the colour reads as separate flames against the clear rather than as a band.

The rim was pulled upward while the glass was still soft, drawing the wall into tall points with deep bays between them. The pulling is done freehand, so the points differ in height and lean; no two vases finished this way are alike.

Unmarked. This form was made across Europe through the 1960s and 70s and I am not able to assign it to a glassworks. It is offered as unattributed European art glass, and priced as such.

The base is ground flat and polished — the pontil scar has been taken off on the wheel, a finishing operation the buyer never sees and cheap export glass never received. See less
