An accomplished example of Dresden revival porcelain, this Helena Wolfsohn chocolate cup trembleuse reflects the refined historicism of the Augustus Rex aesthetic. The two-handled lidded cup rests securely within a pierced trembleuse saucer, referencing eighteenth-century chocolate service traditions.
Alternating Watteau-inspired scenes and floral panels are framed by confident gilt scrollwork against a deep black ground. The subtly textured surface beneath the figure panels enhances visual depth. Underglaze AR-style mark to the base.
A sophisticated decorative object intended for display, combining complex form and assured miniature painting.

Saucer with integrated trembleuse: diameter 14.5 cm, height 4.8 cm, weight 179 g.
Cup: height 11.5 cm, width 10 cm, depth 8 cm, weight 162 g.
Condition
Small chip to the floral finial on the cover. Minor rubbing to the gilding in places. The saucer shows some wear to the gilded surface. The circles and lines visible on the underside are areas of worn gilding rather than cracks. No cracks, breaks, or restorations observed under UV examination. Overall excellent antique condition.
