Large primitive gathering basket or farm/market basket circa 1900s-1940s. This basket was not just for decorative purposes in its heyday, it was very much so a functioning tool used in everyday life. However, now it is in retirement, and looking to be more of an objet d'art instead of a workhorse. The basket can still do many things. Storage being a big one. Possibly with a few coats of boiled linseed oil, it can be put back to work if you have a garden. Just be sure to read the instructions on the bottle if using any solvent on it.
As it is, its in fine condition with a fantastic patina!
