This sculptural dining table base by Chelini of Florence is carved in the form of a bound wheat sheaf, with … Read more This sculptural dining table base by Chelini of Florence is carved in the form of a bound wheat sheaf, with tightly rendered stalks rising from a broad circular foot and flaring outward into an elaborate corona of fronds, scrolls, and feathered leaf forms. The level of carving detail throughout is exceptional, and the piece functions as a work of sculpture as much as a furniture component. No glass top is included, can accommodate one up to approx. 42" in diameter.

The base measures 28.5 inches in diameter by 30 inches tall. There are several cracks along the wood seams as shown in the photographs, and some chipping to the lower perimeter edge, consistent with the age and nature of the material.
