Pair of vintage vases crafted 1993 by renowned ceramicist Washington Ledesma, both in beautiful condition.
One an eagle motif (9.5” H, 7” W) the other frogs (8” H, 6” W) both hand-painted with simplified anatomies and exaggerated features giving the pieces a folkloric look.
These pieces are excellent examples of Ledesma’s work in the early 90s at the height of the artist’s use of his "sgraffito" etching technique.
The whimsical-look of the bird of prey and frog are accentuated by a glossy glaze applied over vibrant layered earth tones of muted ochre, green and blue.
Both bases are signed ‘93 W. Ledesma Martha’s Vineyard MA.’ on the underside. The vases are in excellent condition, so scratches, chips or discoloration.
