This Arts and Crafts stoneware vase by Charles Brannam was made in Barnstaple, Devon, around 1910. Thrown in stoneware with a terracotta-type body, the vase is finished in a glossy cobalt blue glaze with pools and drips of deep green, creating subtle tonal variation across the surface. The form is a truncated cone rising from a stepped pedestal foot, a restrained yet confident silhouette characteristic of early twentieth-century British studio and art pottery. The hand-thrown body reveals gentle concentric lines beneath the glaze, reinforcing its workshop origins and the emphasis on craftsmanship associated with the Arts and Crafts movement. The underside is stamped “Brannam Barnstaple,” confirming its production at the Brannam pottery in Devon. The glaze has a rich, reflective finish, with darker green pooling where the glaze has gathered naturally during firing, adding depth without applied ornament. Condition is good for age and use, with a minor surface scratch to the glaze. This is consistent with careful handling over more than a century and does not detract from the overall presentation. Height: 19 cm (7.48 in) Diameter: 13 cm (5.12 in) A well-proportioned example of Brannam art pottery, suitable as a standalone decorative vessel or as part of a collection of Arts and Crafts ceramics. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
