The vase is constructed in a thick faience body with a glossy surface finish. The ox-blood ground is richly overlaid with hand-painted decoration in navy, lemon yellow, green, white, and turquoise. Fine black channels articulate the design, each cell filled with tactile, glossy enamel, creating a raised surface that echoes the appearance of cloisonné metalwork. The neck features stylised ornament and a geometric band, while the body is adorned with Japanese-influenced motifs rendered in more muted, earthy tones characteristic of Art Nouveau interpretations of East Asian design. The flared rim reveals a pale glazed interior, and the base shows the substantial weight and structure of the faience stoneware body. The piece is unsigned; however, the material, technique, and decorative approach point to manufacture in and around the Longwy area in northern France. Condition is great for its age and use, with no losses and minimal wear. The enamel remains glossy and tactile throughout. Height: 46 cm (18.11 in) Diameter: 22 cm (8.66 in) A striking and tall example of French enamelled faience from the early twentieth century. See less
