This Czech glass vase was designed by Josef Hospodka and produced by Chribska Glassworks around the 1970s. The vase exemplifies a more restrained and elegant strand of Hospodka’s work, contrasting with his better-known abstract and sculptural designs from the same period. The form is defined by a rotund, spherical base that tapers upward before flaring gently at the lip. Undulating ridges spiral fluidly around the body of the vase, tracing its smooth curvature and creating a sense of upward movement. The rim is softly scalloped, providing a refined finish that complements the controlled rhythm of the form. The glass is executed using a cased glass technique, with translucent mauve tones at the base graduating upward into a brighter fuchsia pink. These coloured layers are encased within clear Czech crystal, a method that enhances depth, clarity, and light refraction. The layered construction brings definition and sparkle to the spiralled ridges while allowing the tonal transitions to remain luminous and well balanced. The base is perfectly polished flat. Condition is very good, with only minor surface wear to the polished base consistent with age and careful use. There are no noted chips or cracks. The vase measures approximately 23 cm in height with a diameter of 13 cm (approximately 9.1 inches high and 5.1 inches in diameter). It stands well as a decorative object on its own or as a functional vase, representing a classic and refined example of Czech glass design from the 1970s. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
